Description
Cherry cauldron-inspired form with ebonised finish inside and out. I’ve imagined making an object like this for a while. My first foray into the new stop-turning technique I learnt on my QEST training earlier this year. The bark mostly stayed on this vessel, indicating it was cut just on the cusp of the sap rising earlier in 2024. I love how these features place an object in time and build the connections not just to the tree, but also to the person who felled it. I’ve now added my tool-marks and left them so you can see how this was made. I am particularly fond of the tool-marks on the outer surface of the lugs either side. Approx diameter 5.5″. Finished with Treatex Hardwax Oil.
