Description
This plate was turned with a series of ripples towards the centre as a I was interested in how the eucalyptus would then dry in a ripple from side to side and how that would create a unique texture. The form is exaggerated by coats of black milk paint to remove the distraction of the grain from the finished object. There is a small flaw in the side of the plate showing where it was cleft from the log, which has been left to link the object back to the tree from which is came. The tree came down in the Pony and Trap pub in Chew Magna, and I subsequently turned the majority of the trunk into bowls and plates for use in this wonderful pub.
Equally as home on the kitchen table as on the wall as a wall-hanging sculpture.
Turned on a pole-lathe, this plate is finished with milk paint and Treatex Hardwax Oil, and approx 6″ diameter.
