Description
A nest of three elm all turned form the same half a log using a pole lathe. The wood was sustainably sourced from a tree surgeon in Chew Magna and mellowed for three years before turning leaving this gorgeous chocolate brown colour.
The method of pole lathe turning naturally leaves a core when you hollow out the biggest bowl. With some specially curved hooks it is possible to hollow a slim groove, which results in a big core being left behind. This becomes the second bowl, and so on. I like to think owning a set of these is like having a small family, all come from the same tree and maybe all can serve parts of the same meal to another family.
The big bowl would be equally good as a large pasta bowl or a small salad bowl. The next smallest bowl is a perfect for breakfast or dessert bowl. The final bowl would work great as either small condiment bowls or for other niknaks.
Finished with Treatex Hardwax Oil, and only available as a set.
