Description
Cherry pouring bowl with stop turned surface to the spout and a generous amount of axe marks. The turned surface around the spout is a technique unique to the pole-lathe which made it, as it is possible to perform less than a full revolution of cut-surface by me only slightly depressing the foot pedal.
With this vessel, sourced from a tree surgeon in Bristol, I had axed out the blank and left it to mellow in a bag where it inevitably got a bit grubby. When it came to turning it, I took the decision to leave more of that story behind than I would normally. In doing so I think the final bowl has a lot of character and is totally unique. A generous sized bark scar means this bowl is full of connections to both tree and maker, and is ready for you to add your own story to it.
Equally at home pouring gravy, custard, or salad dressing. Approx. 5.5″ diameter, and finished with Treatex Hardwax Oil.
