Pole Lathe Build Workshops

Workshop
Description
This two-day course in our Bristol workshop is designed to not only give you the chance to build your own pole lathe, but also to give you a good understanding in which parts of a lathe build are important, so that you can make tweaks going forwards to turn other items. The lathe you will build on this course will be suitable for bowl turning. If you are interested in a lathe specific to spindle turning then do get in touch.
Some of the pieces of wood are pre-prepared to ensure that whatever people’s skills, everyone finishes with a functioning lathe. There is time built in at the end of the second day, to ensure that each lathe is tuned to each user.
The days will be physically demanding so you’ll need a practical level of fitness or a good level of stamina!

About
Geoff Hannis
Geoff (@geoffhannis) has always been fascinated with working wood, however it wasn’t until 2018 that he discovered the joy of working green wood through the Cherry Wood Project and the Somerset Bodgers at Tyntesfield House. Having learnt from some of the best craftspeople in the country, he is delighted to offer courses in both spindle turning and bowl turning at Grow Wilder.
